Voya to Spread Positivity With April 29 Virtual Concert Featuring Singer-Songwriter Mandy Harvey
Event to include American Sign Language translator to expand inclusion
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that the company is sharing positivity and thanking the workers who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic by sponsoring an Instagram mini-concert featuring a live performance by America’s Got Talent finalist Mandy Harvey.
The 30-minute concert will take place on April 29 at 8 p.m. Eastern time through Harvey’s @MandyHarvey Instagram handle. The virtual concert will include a live American Sign Language (ASL) translator to further enable the deaf community and their caregivers to take part, while also teaching song lyrics through ASL.
“We are immensely thankful to the extraordinary people on the front lines who are enabling the country to navigate these unprecedented times,” said Heather Lavallee, president of Tax-Exempt Markets for Voya’s Retirement business and the leader of the company’s Voya Cares ® program. “From first responders and health care professionals to supermarket and transportation professionals to teachers working with students remotely — as well as the many other everyday heroes across the country — Voya and its employees are expressing our heartfelt gratitude by making Mandy Harvey’s inspirational music widely available in this special mini-concert.”
The concert furthers Harvey’s and Voya’s shared commitment to spread positivity, and Voya’s mission to serve people with disabilities and special needs, and their caregivers, through its Voya Cares ® program. Harvey, who lost her hearing when she was 18 years old as a result of a connective tissue disorder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, is an advocate for the deaf community and will teach viewers the lyrics to the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow” via ASL during the concert.
More information and a preview of the concert are available on Voya’s YouTube channel. A recording of the concert will also be made available on Voya’s YouTube channel following the live concert broadcast.
