Both National Down Syndrome Society and Creative Spirit honored Voya during their recent galas

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today its Voya Cares® program — which helps people with disabilities and special needs and caregivers plan for the future they envision with a focus on advocacy, solutions and support resources — was recognized by National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) and Creative Spirit during their recent annual galas in New York.

NDSS, which is the leading human rights organization for all individuals with Down syndrome, recognized Voya for its work creating a more inclusive society for people with Down syndrome in the areas of employment and economic self-sufficiency. Voya collaborates with NDSS to support the special needs community through advocacy, such as raising awareness about fair wages and equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

“We were thrilled to honor Voya Financial and to showcase the company’s impact on our community,” said Kandi Pickard, CEO and president of NDSS. “Our shared commitments to inclusion and opportunity have built a strong collaboration. We are grateful for all that Voya’s support has made possible, and we look forward to expanding our collective impact in the years to come.”

Creative Spirit is devoted to creating integrated employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). The nonprofit honored the Voya Cares® program as “Diversity & Inclusion Program of the Year” for its unique and innovative support for caregivers. Voya works together with Creative Spirit to help provide employment coaching for individuals with disabilities.

“One in five families risks mortgaging their future in order to make ends meet to support a family member living with IDDs, and Voya Cares® has been there to help and guide,” said Laurel Rossi, co-founder and board chair of Creative Spirit. “They’ve shared our passion for making a difference in people’s lives since we started in 2017, and for that I am eternally grateful.”

“We have strong passion to help people with disabilities and their caregivers plan for the future they envision, which is the focus of our Voya Cares® program, and one of the many reasons that we collaborate with and support great organizations like National Down Syndrome Society and Creative Spirit,” said Jessica Tuman, VP of Voya Cares® Center of Excellence. “We’re honored to be recognized by these two organizations during their recent galas for work that we are truly passionate about, and we look forward to furthering our work to make a positive difference in society.”
