Kathleen Traynor DeRose Joins Voya Financial Board of Directors
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that Kathleen Traynor DeRose, 58, clinical associate professor of finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business and the director of the FinTech Initiative at the NYU Stern Fubon Center for Technology, Business, and Innovation, has joined the company’s board of directors. She will serve on the audit committee; the risk, investment and finance committee; and the technology, innovation and operations committee.
With the addition of DeRose to the board, Voya’s eight independent directors are now at gender parity, with four men and four women. Voya’s board has a total of 9 directors, including Chairman and CEO Rodney O. Martin, Jr.

Most recently, DeRose served as managing director and head of business strategy and solutions, investment strategy and research, for Credit Suisse from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, she had served as global head of investment process since 2010. Before joining Credit Suisse, DeRose was a founding partner and head of portfolio management and research at Hagin Investment Management. She also served as a managing director and head of large capitalization portfolio management at Bessemer Trust and a managing director and portfolio manager at Deutsche Bank. She began her career as an investment analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank.
DeRose received a master’s of science degree from the University of Oxford, an MBA from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University. She is a director on the board of London Stock Exchange Group plc and Evolute AG. She also founded the Kathleen Traynor Research Fund at Princeton's Bendheim Center for Finance, which supports women's research in finance.
