Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that Mun Kurup, senior vice president and product lead, Annuities and Individual Life, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford fills the gap between school and home by providing welcoming, positive environments in which youth and teens have fun, participate in life- changing programs, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults. Founded in 1860, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford was the first Club in America and has been supporting the youth and teens of the Hartford community from the day its first Club opened its doors.
“Our success relies on many factors, one of which is the leadership and support we receive from our Board of Trustees, said Sam S. Gray Jr., President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford. “We are honored to welcome Mun to our board of trustees, and we know that his leadership, coupled with his passion for serving others, will help pave the path to a great future for all who walk through our doors.”
At Voya, Kurup is responsible for leading product pricing and development, product management and strategy, market intelligence and voice of the customer for its Annuities and Individual Life segments. He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, including the past nine years with Voya. Prior to assuming his current role in 2013, he was the chief financial officer of KB Life Insurance in South Korea, which was a joint venture between KB Bank and ING.
“Childhood and young adulthood are critical years, during which we develop a strong educational foundation, moral character and life skills,” said Kurup. “I am very excited to join an organization that works with children and young men and women, focusing on what it takes to be happy, healthy and successful citizens. I look forward to getting involved in their activities, sharing my personal experiences and helping make a positive impact in the lives of those served by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.”
