Voya Financial Announces Third Annual National Day of Service
NEW YORK, May 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), will hold its third annual National Day of Service today. This enterprise-wide, volunteer initiative engages thousands of Voya Financial employees in a single day, maximizing the company's impact in the communities where its employees and customers live and work.
More than 100 events will take place at or near Voya's nine major offices across the U.S. Individuals who are part of the company's Virtually Orange remote workforce will also have opportunities to participate across the country. Employees will volunteer their time and energy supporting philanthropic activities that align with Voya's corporate responsibility focus, including financial literacy, children's education and the environment.
"At Voya, we recognize that volunteerism drives positive change in our communities, and we're proud of our employees' commitment to service," said Voya Financial Chairman and CEO Rodney O. Martin, Jr. "During last year's National Day of Service, our employees volunteered almost 12,000 hours to local nonprofits, and we look forward to building on that success today."
Voya Financial seeks to create shared value for the company and the communities it serves by conducting business in a way that is socially, environmentally, economically and ethically responsible.
National Day of Service volunteers will choose from a range of activities geared toward their individual passions and interests, including participating in Habitat for Humanity building projects, teaching financial literacy skills to students, building playgrounds for children, cleaning up rivers and streams and more. In addition, Feeding Children Everywhere is a national volunteer initiative that will engage hundreds of Voya employees across the country in preparing and packaging meals to feed hungry children around the globe.
Voya encourages employee volunteerism by providing full-time employees with 40 hours of paid volunteer time each year. Last year alone, Voya employees volunteered 44,000 hours, valued by Independent Sector at a contribution of over $1 million.
As an industry leader and advocate for greater retirement readiness, Voya Financial is committed to delivering on its vision to be America's Retirement CompanyTM and to making a secure financial future possible — one person, one family, one institution at a time.
