Voya welcomes Kimberly Coffman as director, Supplier Diversity

A message from Angela Harrell, chief diversity and corporate impact officer, and Melissa McClintock, chief procurement officer

At Voya, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) are core to our environmental, social and governance (ESG) practice, and we are committed to purposefully bringing our differences together to positively influence our culture, serve our clients and enrich our communities. This includes organizations and businesses owned by and/or serving historically marginalized and underrepresented communities.

This commitment extends beyond our workforce to our business partners (suppliers, vendors and consultants) with whom we work to successfully meet our customers’ and business needs. We know we share a commitment to address economic and social inequity with many of our customers and believe that our new supplier diversity program will further our work to advance everyone’s opportunity to have a better financial future.

To formalize this imperative, together with the Strategic Sourcing team, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force researched best practices and opportunities to further evolve and strengthen our supplier diversity efforts. Through the powerful and insightful ideas and recommendations of this group of 80 leaders, who represent various Voya teams as well as diverse backgrounds and perspectives, we created a new leadership role dedicated to continuing to evolve our approach to supplier diversity.

Kimberly Coffman

As such, we recently welcomed Kimberly Coffman to Voya as our director, Supplier Diversity. In this role, Kimberly works across Voya to assess policy, operations and culture to enhance supplier inclusion; gain an understanding of the needs and opportunities of our business units, sales teams and customers; and lead the development of a supplier diversity strategy that will expand our reach and engagement among small and diverse-owned business enterprises.

Kimberly brings to the role proven experience in leading supplier diversity efforts. Prior to joining Voya, she served as manager of supplier diversity and inclusion for a leading airline, where she implemented a strategic supplier diversity initiative that spanned the company’s global operation; and previously led a supplier diversity transformation at an office furniture manufacturing firm. She has led programs to bring new diverse suppliers into the company’s supply chain and developed training programs, communications, supplier development, benchmarking and performance-management systems.

At Voya, we believe we are stronger because of our differences and that innovation comes through diverse perspectives. We are excited to have Kimberly on the Voya team to drive our efforts with suppliers to purposefully bring our differences together, positively influence our culture and better serve our clients and our communities.
