Upgraded myBenefitsHub simplifies the absence claims process for employers and employees

Voya recently introduced upgrades to our myBenefitsHub portal, providing a seamless process for employers and employees to submit and manage absence requests. The myBenefitsHub experience is available this month for new Voya Leave management (VLM) customers — and this is just the first in a series of enhancements coming to our VLM and Short Term Disability coverage experiences.

The updates represent a significant step forward for digital absence management. By providing an easy-to-understand claims process, detailed educational resources, and a robust absence dashboard, the portal addresses the key needs of employees and employers alike. These improvements not only enhance the user experience but also support optimal decision-making and more efficient management of employee benefits.

“We know that the absence claims experience can be daunting during a time that is often stressful,” says Maleiha Russell, VP of Life, Absence and Disability Product at Voya Financial. “Our latest enhancements to our myBenefitsHub are designed to deliver an integrated and intuitive digital experience, offering greater support for employees when they need it most, while helping simplify administrative burden for employers.”

A simplified, more intuitive experience for employees

Our focus on streamlining the claims process has led to the development of a system that’s simple to use, complete with a new claims progress tracker and supportive prompts. These features ensure that employees can navigate the claims process with ease, receiving clear guidance at every step.

In addition to simplifying claims submission, the updated portal offers a wealth of educational resources. Employees now have access to detailed information about the various types of absence and disability coverage available to them through their employer or the state where they work, empowering them to make more informed decisions about their benefits.

More visibility and control for employers

For supervisors, managers and human resource contacts, the portal includes a robust absence dashboard. This tool provides a clear overview of absence data, making it easy to address employee questions and manage administrative tasks efficiently. The dashboard is designed to keep all relevant information at hand, streamlining the process and reducing the administrative burden.

Driven by a desire for greater benefits decision support

These enhancements are particularly relevant given the results of recent Voya research, which found that 93% of employees consider online benefits portals to be extremely or somewhat important when making decisions about their employee benefits.1 By expanding the myBenefitsHub portal, we aim to meet the demand for user-friendly and informative benefits management tools.

Current clients began the migration to the new myBenefitsHub experience in December 2024, with availability for new clients on January 1, 2025.

Even more upgrades and enhancements coming

We strive to continuously evolve the benefits experience for both employers and employees. As part of this effort, we’re undertaking enhancements to our online leave management and short-term disability experiences. The refreshed myBenefitsHub is the first of these endeavors — stay tuned for announcements of further changes in the coming months.
