Voya Leave Management

This leave management option is available for companies with more than 200 employees with fully insured Short Term or Long Term Disability. Offers employees job-protected leave in the event they can’t work due to their own illness, to care for a family member or take bonding time.

Short Term Disability Income Coverage

Offers employees benefits to replace a portion of their weekly earnings in the event they can’t work because of an eligible illness or injury; can be offered as employer and/or employee paid. A waiting period and maximum duration will apply.

Long Term Disability Income Insurance

When a disability lasts longer than Short Term Disability coverage, this replaces part of their paycheck for the duration of their disability or to normal retirement age. A waiting period and maximum duration will apply. Can be offered as employer and/or employee paid.

  • Leave management services: Includes federal, state and company-specific leaves, paid family leave,* and administration of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) leaves.
  • Offered in one place: Employers get access to job protection guidance, disability benefits, work accommodations and Stay at Work (SAW) guidance.
  • 24-hour online portal: Provides real-time claim status and robust reporting tools that supply the reason for the absence, return-to-work date, as well as a calendar of current and upcoming absences for each manager’s team.
  • Consistent benefits experience: Employees receive personalized customer service from one case specialist assigned to manage all types of leaves. Our case specialists handle a caseload that is reasonable and allows them to have the time required to provide proactive service to their customers.

Here's how the process works:

  1. Intake: Questions are asked specific to reason for leave via telephone or online, which takes less than 15 minutes.
  2. Within 2 business days: Acknowledgement Pack sent with applicable leave protections, eligibility decisions, medical certification, rights and responsibilities, and any other enclosures or information employer needs employee to receive.
  3. Within 3 business days of receiving all necessary claim information: Decision is made to approve, deny, or pend the claim for more information needed. Status details are thoroughly explained via phone to employee.
  4. Checkpoints/ongoing claim review: Based on the specific claim, checkpoints may be conducted. A team of specialists can assist with ongoing review and evaluations. Employee is reminded a few days prior to anticipated return to work and the case specialist will verify the date has not changed. Referrals to complimentary advocacy resources are available.

Short Term Disability Income Coverage

With our Short Term Disability (STD) Income Coverage, we can build a benefit plan that matches an employer’s strategy and culture. STD pays benefits to replace a percentage of an employee’s weekly earnings for a disability lasting a few weeks to a few months. There may be a waiting period before an employee is eligible for benefits.

Adaptable to most enrollment systems, STD coverage can be included on virtually any platform or benefits administration system. Employees can select their benefits as part of their annual or open enrollment process.

Long Term Disability Income Insurance

If employees become disabled or are unable to work due to sickness or illness for a longer period of time, Long Term Disability (LTD) Income Insurance can help replace some of their lost income.

In general, LTD coverage begins after STD has been exhausted and can last for the duration of the disability or until retirement — a waiting period may apply before an employee is eligible for benefits and the plan maximum duration will apply.
